For Jamie and Katie, having their wedding in New York City was a destination wedding, as they came to me all the way from Ireland. I can’t say enough about how much fun this wedding was to photograph. Their small intimate wedding really had a special feel to it, throughout the entire day. They made me feel like I was a part of the family from start to finish.
The ceremony was held in Central Park at the Ladies Pavillion, then we headed to through Central Park in a wedding march, and took some boats out on the lake at the Central Park Boathouse. I had my own boat and my own personal rower.. everyone was laughing and having an amazing time.
We took a few more photos at Grand Central Station, in the subway, and concluded in Times Square. In between all the photos we managed to go for a HUGE dinner at Churrascaria Plataforma, which is a Brazilian steakhouse, the kind where they walk around and cut you off meat from the spit..you don’t leave that place hungry. I was invited to sit down with the family and have dinner. At the end of the meal there were toasts, and a bunch of friends and relatives said some really lovely things..I was photographing the whole thing and then at the end, when everyone was finished with their speeches I was the only one standing. Everyone looked at me and in their Irish accents yelled, “Danny boy! you need to say something now!” I’ve been asked to give wedding speeches before, but that’s at weddings where I’m invited as a guest, not working as a wedding photographer! It was pretty amusing, I just thanked everyone for the great time I was having.
If you’re going to have a destination wedding in New York City, these are all really great places to take some photographs..and I think we got some great one’s, in fact it was hard to narrow them down so I’m posting a lot from this wedding!
What a character this one was, I want to photograph his wedding someday!
