Jordana and I recently got away for a few days on a much needed vacation to the beautiful Zoetry Resort in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. The hotel offered some cool activities each day and one of them was a cigar rolling demonstration. A company (not really available in the United States So I hadn’t heard of them) named LaPerla Dominicana came in and showed us how it was done..it was very interesting and luckily they let me take a few photos:
Check out this cool video I just put together from an engagement session I did in Greenpoint with Carolina and Christopher. I’m always excited for upcoming weddings withcouples like this but when I get to look forward to their wedding next month in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico… well its a little added bonus. I’m really looking forward to their destination wedding with this great couple!
Tanya and Kevin had an amazing wedding earlier this fall at one of my favorite spots in the city, Bubby’s in Brooklyn. I love that area with the great cobble stone streets, gorgeous views of the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridge and the skyline. Tanya was a wonderful bride and trusted my judgment and eye for setting up some of these beautiful wedding photos we got. They make a really great couple and I think their emotions for each other really come out in some of these photos.
It was a lot of fun walking around DUMBO with them capturing these moments and then heading into Bubby’s for some dinner, dancing, and of course when you’re at Bubby’s…. their delicious wedding pies instead of cake! Oh and they have a photo booth too for wedding guests which is always a lot of fun.
I shot a bit of Hasselblad medium format film at this wedding and am glad I did.. really got some cool stuff I hope you enjoy checking this awesome Brooklyn Wedding out!
Update – I’m excited to say that a Wedding/bridal blog named Bustle and Flow just featured this wedding.. check out the link HERE.
I find that a lot of the couples I meet with are meeting with their potential wedding photographer early on in the process. Usually the venue is already picked out (not always though and I love being able to suggest some of my favorite locations) but often the wedding DJ hasn’t been chosen yet. I have a few very cool DJs I recommend including Gary Hoffman (DJ Gaza as he goes by) Colleen Crumbcake (Great name right? Her company is PopShop DJs) and John Sinclair (Aria Melody is the name of his company)
These three are among the best in the industry and when I see their faces come reception time I always smile and know my night is going to be fun. When there’s a good positive atmosphere among the vendors I think it makes for a great night and I definitely feed off of their talent, creatively speaking. I love the tunes all three of these guys spin, but its not just that. They’re all professional, reliable, and good industry folk.
Now the main reason for this post besides plugging them is to show you this awesome video John Sinclair of Aria Melody recently made (and yours truly has a little cameo in it). Great stuff.. check it out.
This past week was filled with a lot of food and restaurant photography for me. I had a shoot come out in Time Out New York for the Hurricane Club, a portrait of chef Nikki Cascone in the New York Times Dining Section, and a shoot for the ‘Ino and Inoeteca restaurants.
Jason Denton is the owner and mastermind behind the ‘Ino empire which includes 4 awesome restaurants in our fair city:
‘ino, café / bar
He and his team hired me to come in and do some photography for him last week and we got some nice looking stuff.. make sure its almost lunchtime before checking these out!
