Brooklyn Engagement Session – photo of the day

I have been very lucky to be so busy lately. I’m booked for about 43 weddings this year and at least 20 engagement sessions so I haven’t really had to time to blog as much as I’d like to.

SO, I think I’m going to try to put more single photos up here and there,  as opposed to lengthy blog posts… to keep my blog more active.  I’m starting here with a “Photo a day” post.. might not be everyday but I don’t want to call it, “Photo every few days”.  That just doesn’t have a good ring to it.  The hope is to give my lovely viewers (yes you) something to look at more often..

Today I’m sharing an engagement session from this spring in Dumbo, Brooklyn. This is Zach and Jenna, a wonderful couple whose wedding I will be blogging sooner than later.. can’t wait to share those photos but check this one out for now. Enjoy!

NYC engagements

Studio 450 Wedding, New York City

Alden and Caroline were recently married here in New York City, starting with a beautiful church wedding at St. Charles Borromeo church in Brooklyn heights. You gotta love the relative out front smoking a cigar before the ceremony..well at least I did he was cool enough to let me get up close with my fisheye for that shot.. Such a great looking church to compliment the lovely bride Caroline, and her soon to be husband Alden (who was really awesome to work with and very funny as you’ll see towards the end of the photos).

After the ceremony we took a stroll around Brooklyn Heights for a few quick photos then we were off to Studio 450 on the west side of Manhattan. I love photographing weddings at this space there’s a lot of character (if you ask nicely they let you use the old elevator lift for some photos) and the views outside during the cocktail hour are pretty awesome. From the hysterical wedding speeches (there were actual rehearsed skits!) to the fun Alden had with my photography umbrella, this was really great wedding.

I hope you enjoy viewing these photos as much as I enjoyed capturing them.

Bubby’s Wedding – A beautiful fall Brooklyn day

Tanya and Kevin had an amazing wedding earlier this fall at one of my favorite spots in the city, Bubby’s in Brooklyn. I love that area with the great cobble stone streets, gorgeous views of the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridge and the skyline. Tanya was a wonderful bride and trusted my judgment and eye for setting up some of these beautiful wedding photos we got. They make a really great couple and I think their emotions for each other really come out in some of these photos.

It was a lot of fun walking around DUMBO with them capturing these moments and then heading into Bubby’s for some dinner, dancing, and of course when you’re at Bubby’s…. their delicious wedding pies instead of cake! Oh and they have a photo booth too for wedding guests which is always a lot of fun.

I shot a bit of Hasselblad medium format film at this wedding and am glad I did.. really got some cool stuff I hope you enjoy checking this awesome Brooklyn Wedding out!

Update –  I’m excited to say that a Wedding/bridal blog named Bustle and Flow just featured this wedding.. check out the link HERE.

Picnic House – A Brooklyn wedding in Prospect Park

When getting married in NYC there are so many amazing venues to choose from, but a few special spots that I really like are when couples choose to get wed in one of our beautiful New York City parks. I’ve been lucky enough to photograph weddings around the city at the Central Park Boathouse , Bronx Botanical Garden, and the Brooklyn Botanical Garden.

Lauren and Brad had a beautiful fall wedding at another great choice for a Park Wedding at the Picnic House in Prospect Park and the day was just lovely from start to finish. The ceremony was held at the gorgeous St. Augustine Church in Park Slope, Brooklyn. Check out the massive interior, it was really a sight to see.

Brad looked sharp and Lauren was striking in her beautiful non-traditional wedding dress. Everyone had a great time and really took advantage the cool autumn Brooklyn air while enjoying a game of bocce. There were heartfelt speeches, vintage taxi cabs, and delicious cupcakes. Overall it was a wonderful wedding and I was honored to capture their day.
