Bubby’s Brooklyn, a wedding in DUMBO – Photo of the Day

Michele and Dennis recently got married at Bubby’s in Brooklyn after a church ceremony in Manhattan.. I love this photo of them because, well besides the fact they both look great I like the lines..the geometry of the background I thought it looked pretty cool. Much more to come from this amazing wedding enjoy this one for now!

Brooklyn Engagement Session – photo of the day

I have been very lucky to be so busy lately. I’m booked for about 43 weddings this year and at least 20 engagement sessions so I haven’t really had to time to blog as much as I’d like to.

SO, I think I’m going to try to put more single photos up here and there,  as opposed to lengthy blog posts… to keep my blog more active.  I’m starting here with a “Photo a day” post.. might not be everyday but I don’t want to call it, “Photo every few days”.  That just doesn’t have a good ring to it.  The hope is to give my lovely viewers (yes you) something to look at more often..

Today I’m sharing an engagement session from this spring in Dumbo, Brooklyn. This is Zach and Jenna, a wonderful couple whose wedding I will be blogging sooner than later.. can’t wait to share those photos but check this one out for now. Enjoy!

Wedding Crashers – Brooklyn Wedding Fair

For the second year in a row I participated in a Brooklyn Based wedding fair called Wedding Crashers. Before my first fair last year I had never done one..they all sounded a bit cheesy and I just didn’t like the idea of being in a Marriott trying to meet potential clients..but when I heard about this one at the Park Slope Bell House and who some of the other vendors were, I wanted in! Last year I gave a speech on what to look for in a wedding photographer this year I focused more on staying in my booth and meeting some awesome couples with amazing sounding weddings around Brooklyn and beyond.

A few of my favorite vendors that were there:

Naturally Delicious – I’ve been lucky enough to photograph a few weddings where

Nine Cakes – beautiful looking and tasting wedding cakes / cupcakes

The Ketubah – I took a few nice photos of their Ketubahs which are among the nicest I’ve ever seen.

One Girl Cookies – yum yum.. just did a wedding of theirs at the Metropolitan building and their desserts were beautiful

The Engagements – Kick Ass Wedding Band

Rock Paper Scissors Events – wonderful wedding decoration/planning

Root Stock and Quade – beautiful stuff

Tammy Golson Events – a great New York City wedding planner

Lion in the Sun – they make lovely invitations and thank you cards

I took a few photos before the show really got started..

Brooklyn Wedding Photography – Angie and Neil at the Foundry

Angie and Neil were recently wed at the Foundry, a beautiful location in Brooklyn to photograph a wedding. We started the day at the Foundry and photographed both the ceremony and reception there. The daylight in that place is beautiful and the surrounding area gives you a lot of cool shooting opportunities.

For their wedding, Angie and Neil were very invested in the photography and chose one of my options to shoot a few rolls of 120 medium format film with a Hasselblad. Whenever a couple wants me to shoot Hasselblad or Holga, I’m always excited going in because it really makes you think a lot about composition and exposure, so you’re more you’re constricted, but in a good way. I love my digtal SLRs and would never photograph a wedding without them, but playing around with a Hasselblad is really fun for me for a few select photos. Note: you can tell which are the Hasselblad wedding photos because they are in a square format.

Angie looked beautiful in her dress and Neil and his crew of groomsmen were very cool, we all had a great time. From the food to the cocktails to the dancing, it was a wonderful wedding that I’m proud to say I photographed. Here are a few of my favorites from the day.
