Indian Wedding Photography in Muskoka, Canada

In 2011 I spent an exciting day with Shrey and Archana who flew into New York City for their engagement session with me. Together we had a great afternoon shooting in Brooklyn and Manhattan.

They must have been pleased with their photos—soon after we met in New York, Shrey phoned to ask if I’d fly to Canada to shoot their wedding. Shrey and Archana’s beautiful affair unfolded in Muskoka, a lake region north of Toronto at the stunning Taboo Resort in Canada this past summer. Over the course of two days I shot formal photos of the couple—making full use of the region’s gorgeous natural landscape—and their wonderful ceremony, bursting with the kind of rich colors and vibrant traditions that are so fundamental to Indian weddings.

After the ceremony Archana changed into another beautiful Indian dress and joined the party to dance into the late hours. This was truly one of the most warm and festive weddings I’ve had the pleasure of photographing. It was a great experience and I think we captured some timeless images.

Destination Wedding to New York City – A winter getaway!

Mike and Anja were a lovely couple who came to me through facebook actually, all the way from Germany to get married in New York City. NYC is a beautiful place to have a winter wedding and I was lucky enough to be chosen to cover their special day.

We met up at City Hall, where they went to the Manhattan Marriage Bureau to have a quick ceremony. We then started off their wedding photo session in downtown Manhattan and crossed over the Brooklyn Bridge. This is a great way for anyone who wants to get married and experience New York City at the same time. What couples generally do who opt for this type of wedding is come to the States, have a lovely little holiday and then go back too their country of origin (Germany, UK, etc) and have a big party with all their friends and family. I think its a beautiful, original wedding idea.

So onto some photos:

A New York City Destination Wedding – Jamie and Katie

For Jamie and Katie, having their wedding in New York City was a destination wedding, as they came to me all the way from Ireland. I can’t say enough about how much fun this wedding was to photograph. Their small intimate wedding really had a special feel to it, throughout the entire day. They made me feel like I was a part of the family from start to finish.

The ceremony was held in Central Park at the Ladies Pavillion, then we headed to through Central Park in a wedding march, and took some boats out on the lake at the Central Park Boathouse.  I had my own boat and my own personal rower.. everyone was laughing and having an amazing time.

We took a few more photos at Grand Central Station, in the subway, and concluded in Times Square. In between all the photos we managed to go for a HUGE dinner at Churrascaria Plataforma, which is a Brazilian steakhouse, the kind where they walk around and cut you off meat from the spit..you don’t leave that place hungry. I was invited to sit down with the family and have dinner. At the end of the meal there were toasts, and a bunch of friends and relatives said some really lovely things..I was photographing the whole thing and then at the end, when everyone was finished with their speeches I was the only one standing. Everyone looked at me and in their Irish accents yelled, “Danny boy! you need to say something now!” I’ve been asked to give wedding speeches before, but that’s at weddings where I’m invited as a guest, not working as a wedding photographer! It was pretty amusing, I just thanked everyone for the great time I was having.

If you’re going to have a destination wedding in New York City, these are all really great places to take some photographs..and I think we got some great one’s, in fact it was hard to narrow them down so I’m posting a lot from this wedding!
