A New York City Destination Wedding – Jamie and Katie

For Jamie and Katie, having their wedding in New York City was a destination wedding, as they came to me all the way from Ireland. I can’t say enough about how much fun this wedding was to photograph. Their small intimate wedding really had a special feel to it, throughout the entire day. They made me feel like I was a part of the family from start to finish.

The ceremony was held in Central Park at the Ladies Pavillion, then we headed to through Central Park in a wedding march, and took some boats out on the lake at the Central Park Boathouse.  I had my own boat and my own personal rower.. everyone was laughing and having an amazing time.

We took a few more photos at Grand Central Station, in the subway, and concluded in Times Square. In between all the photos we managed to go for a HUGE dinner at Churrascaria Plataforma, which is a Brazilian steakhouse, the kind where they walk around and cut you off meat from the spit..you don’t leave that place hungry. I was invited to sit down with the family and have dinner. At the end of the meal there were toasts, and a bunch of friends and relatives said some really lovely things..I was photographing the whole thing and then at the end, when everyone was finished with their speeches I was the only one standing. Everyone looked at me and in their Irish accents yelled, “Danny boy! you need to say something now!” I’ve been asked to give wedding speeches before, but that’s at weddings where I’m invited as a guest, not working as a wedding photographer! It was pretty amusing, I just thanked everyone for the great time I was having.

If you’re going to have a destination wedding in New York City, these are all really great places to take some photographs..and I think we got some great one’s, in fact it was hard to narrow them down so I’m posting a lot from this wedding!

  1. All of these photos are amazing. You can capture the life in each subject that you photograph, especially in the first portrait on the page. These are all very wonderful and well done, I especially love your black and white conversions, not to mention that you’re pretty much the most awesome wedding photographer that I’ve ever seen. Very beautiful photos!

  2. DUDE!!!!! Amazing set of photos! I really love the one of just the bride walking on top of the rocks and the back shot of them crossing the street–but they’re all killer!

  3. Daniel, all the shots are amazing as always, but I am ALWAYS in awe of the shots you take of couples in the city. You really make sure that what makes NYC special is incorporated in your portraits. Bravo.

  4. Hey Danny Boy!!! All the photos are truly amazing!!!!!!!! New York was a once in a lifetime trip for most of our wee Irish family and you captured the fun & beauty of Jamie & Katie’s day in such a breathtaking way!!! Thanks for sharing in the craic & being part of the memories – your speech was fab!!! LOL!! If you ever swing by the Emerald Isle give us a shout!!

P.S. Still can’t believe you got into that boat with my husband!!

    Danielle xx

  5. You captured one of the proudest days of my life in a way that now can be remembered forever. You were a true gent from start to finish. You may think you were only as family member for a day but let me tell you, thanks your your talent you are now a member forever. When the albumn comes out so do fond mentions of ‘Danny Boy’

    Thank you

  6. Breathtaking! I’ve been living in New York City for 15 years now and I feel you truly captured city’s dynamism and vibrancy!

Beautiful couple, too – best of luck to both of them!

  7. Wow, Daniel! I just loved this set. You put your all into it, and it shows! I’m just a wee bit jealous, since I thought I was the only one to call you Danny-boy, but having it come from a true Irish family really does make it official! It’s so great that the family and you have such a wonderful time together, and thank you for posting these wonderful photographs so everyone else can have some pleasure from them too.
